De performance, De Dingenman, Swap 10 000 Dingen, 2025, van Christine Clinckx vertrekt vanuit een onuitputtelijk archief: de verzameling van 10 000 dingen die de filosoof Jaap Kruithof (1929–2009) naliet.
In zijn kelder, op meterslange schabben, groeide een universum van objecten bijeen. Kruithof hield vast aan wat anderen doorgaans afdanken: banale, vergeten, onbeduidend gewaande dingen.
Elk object, hoe banaal ook, werd door hem bewaard omdat het een geschiedenis in zich droeg en een vorm van compassie opriep.
Die erfenis kreeg in 2018 een nieuw leven in het MAS – Museum aan de Stroom, waar de collectie werd onderzocht, bevraagd en deels opgenomen in de museumcollectie.
De rest werd vrijgegeven als een “grondstof voor de toekomst”. Precies uit dat materiaal bouwt Clinckx nu verder.
Op 4 oktober 2025 wordt de collectie opnieuw geactiveerd in een participatieve performance van Christine Clinckx bij Second Room Antwerpen tijdens de expo "Idylle sur la Paix" van Annea Lyvv Dreisz.
Jij wordt uitgenodigd deel te nemen aan deze levende ruilbeweging: breng een object mee – een voorwerp dat je wil loslaten – en ruil het ter plekke in voor iets dat voordien toebehoorde aan een ander. Zo schuift de eigendom van de dingen op, van Kruithof naar Clinckx, en verder naar jou.
Een circulaire geste, een kleine maar betekenisvolle verschuiving in de waardering van wat “iets” is. Een ontmoeting tussen kunst, filosofie en de intieme biografie van voorwerpen.
Neem dus een object mee. Wissel. En word deel van de 10 000 dingen.

The performance, De Dingenman, Swap 10,000 Things, 2025, by Christine Clinckx draws on an inexhaustible archive: the collection of 10,000 things left behind by philosopher Jaap Kruithof (1929–2009).
In his basement, on meters-long shelves, a universe of objects grew together. Kruithof held on to what others usually discard: banal, forgotten, seemingly insignificant things.
Every object, no matter how mundane, was preserved by him because it carried a history and evoked a form of compassion.
In 2018, this legacy was given a new lease of life at the MAS – Museum aan de Stroom, where the collection was researched, questioned, and partly incorporated into the museum collection.
The rest was released as ‘raw material for the future’. It is precisely this material that Clinckx is now building on.
On October 4, 2025, the collection will be reactivated in a participatory performance by Christine Clinckx at Second Room Antwerp during Annea Lyvv Dreisz's exhibition ‘Idylle sur la Paix’.
You are invited to participate in this living exchange movement:
bring an object – something you want to let go of – and exchange it on the spot for something that previously belonged to someone else. In this way, ownership of the objects shifts from Kruithof to Clinckx, and then on to you.
A circular gesture, a small but meaningful shift in the appreciation of what “something” is. An encounter between art, philosophy, and the intimate biography of objects.
So bring an object. Exchange it. And become part of the 10,000 things.
